Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Sitting at the bar counter and watching the chefs preparing food is like watching artists skillfully creating masterpieces. The Chef’s Omakase featuring seasonal items was mindblowingly amazing. The sashimi, fried fish, and sushi were indescribably delicious. The ingredients, sauces, preparation, and presentation made every mouthful a ballet orchestra of flavours bursting into the universe and beyond. You will know how amazing the food is after you have tried it.

Had the 10 piece sushi set and quality was impeccable. Also ordered their grilled miso cod which was unpretentious and flavourful. However the 5 piece sashimi and otoshi served were quite underwhelming. Recommended sake was great too, even though it isn’t the priciest on the list. Service is warm and accommodating, chef is very kind and makes you feel taken care of.
Firdaus Abdul Malik
Superb selection of sushi and sashimi. Nothing but the freshest stuff is served. We went a little overboard with the uni but it was so worth it. The waiters were very knowledgeable and service was excellent. I would recommend asking them about their specials as there were some off-menu items they recommended. Will definitely be back.

The sushi was very fresh and was cut thick! The oysters mentaiko were done well. It’s served warm but the oysters were juicy. The California roll was nicely coated with fish eggs. The spider handroll was not to my liking because it was not crispy and was quite oily.

Top on my list for freshness, variety & flavours is Sushi Bar! I like the one at Ngee Ann best! But we have also enjoyed the Plaza SG one too! Just wish they had free flow cold green tea! My favourite dishes are the beef steak & the sashimi salad! The salad is so refreshing!!

It was a truly great find to discover this place by chance. The sushi and sashimi were amazing. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was also very nice – no loud music, generous amount of seats, friendly service. We were lucky we got to sit right at the counters and watch the chefs do their magic. Everything we ordered tasted fresh. Looking forward to our next visit. Update: went here a second time for my birthday. I think we got complimentary raddish which was a nice surprise and super yummy. The quality was superb as usual. The chefs were also so friendly – totally recommend sitting beside the bar. Will still come back!

10/10 for the quality and quantity of Japanese food offerings in the sushi omakase combo. Came to celebrate my anniversary with my partner, left full in both our bellies and our hearts. Extremely hearty experience with the so ever cheerful local chef Gary who never failed to make the experience so comfortable and enjoyable throughout! Shout out to the friendly servers as well. Definitely a recommend for anyone looking for a well-priced and delicious omakase treat. 🙂
Michelle
I have visited this Omakase more than once and they have always delivered, every single time. If you are looking for true, authentic, Japanese Omakase that serves superior food, this is the place. Their Uni, Wagyu with Angel Hair pasta, Jumbo Hotate and Foie Gras with Prawns are my favourite. This place does them so well that it always feels like the food were having fireworks in every bite. I truly highly recommend this place. Very value for money on the price paid for the quality of Omakase. Definitely will return.

Very authentic sushi restaurant in Singapore. I visited here with 3 other Japanese for lunch. We had a course and all the dishes were very authentic. Also, I can see the servers care our table very well. Highly recommended!
Terence
Had the 15 course sushi and enjoyed it very much. Highlights for me were the Chutoro, Aji, Shiro ebi and Uni. The Chef and staff were very hospitable and I look forward to my next visit!
Oma Kase
That’s the Japan standard you should be talking about in Singapore. The price tag matches with the quality they delivered. I have never tasted such refined Japanese foods in Singapore before. Shinji may be able to go up against some of the best sushi restaurants in Japan. Chefs are well trained and able to converse in English fluently. They even surprised me with the desserts in the Omakase menu which usually people don’t pay attention to. I would definitely visit again soon.

I am quite reluctant to share with everybody about this restaurant, especially on Friday night which is typically noisy and crowded with most of the restaurants. If you love authentic Japanese cuisine, like to have a peaceful yet cosy moment with your wife, this is the ONE place you don’t want to miss. Service staff are very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back again.
Zee
Reviewing a couple of months late but I absolutely loved my dinner experience at Sushi Jin. The food and the service was impeccable, down to both waiters and chef seeing me out and making sure I went the right way to catch the MRT! Fantastic omakase menu and fantastic people. Really would like to go back again to experience their lunch offering.

Sushi Jin is LEGIT! I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Sushi/Sashimi are super fresh, quality ingredients that you can easily tell. I would HIGHLY recommend the ”Premium Aburi Toro Don”, absolutely a highlight for me. The service is impeccable too. This will be my top 1 restaurant when I fancy some quality authentic Japanese food.

Favourite place to go with my family and friends whenever I crave for sashimi. We will usually go for their buffet. The buffet also offers shabu shabu, grilled wagyu and many assorted Japanese dishes such as tempura, soft shell crabs, scallops, toriyaki, takoyaki, chawan mushi etc etc. The sashimi is fresh and the food is delicious. The service is attentive and prompt while the ambience is comfortable and relaxed. The restaurant also provides complimentary carpark coupon. Good place affordable price.
Dino
I have to give this restaurant a 5star rating. The quality is top notch – the wagyu cubes, scallops, fresh oysters just to name a few. And the aburi sushi are fantastic. We went on a Sunday night and we were surprised that the restaurant was quiet. It makes our experience more cosy. The only thing lacking is there wasnt any dessert, besides ice cream. And there wasnt even any green tea flavour ice cream. Overall, Hokkaido sushi is highly recommended. Will definitely revisit.

Had dinner here with a group of friends. They have a lot of food options for solo or sharing portions. I ordered the sushi rice bowl, and I was pleasantly surprised that it had a substantial amount of sushi. The service staff is very attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. The restaurant is nice and cozy as well.

Our first time trying the food at this branch and it was unforgettable; we got the counter seats (I.e.: front row seats to the epic sushi-making) which my bf called “the Shinji experience!!!” Food was even better than I last remembered from the Pickering branch. Here’s what we got:
– Sashimi don: comes packed with negitoro, chuka kurage and perfectly diced chunks of salmon, tuna, ?amberjack(I think). Felt very cohesive with a variety of textures and flavors!
– Tempura prawns: their batter was exceptionally light and adhered well to the juicy phatt💦 prawns on the inside! Each piece was so perfectly fried that even the tail could be consumed
– Sushi set B: great! I liked that they use a different type of rice. As stated on the menu, the rice is REALLY little so let them know if you want a more standard serving. Overall fresh although the hotate tasted a bit fishy.
The staff were really friendly and efficient. Thanks so much for the fun dinner experience!

Honestly hands down one of the better sushi bars in SG (in my opinion). Ordered: wagyu rice bowl, pork cheek rice bowl, shirako (seasonal menu), Kome sashimi set and cold beancurd with sea urchin. Paired these with hot sake (very smooth)!!! 🤤 The sashimi is really very fresh and have a decent, thick cut. Very impressed with the tuna 🤩 and I love the wasabi as well! Special mention for the shirako since it was a seasonal item. Quite a decent portion for the price – goes really well with the jelly on the side. Nice blend. As for the rice bowl, wagyu and pork cheek are so delicious. The meat just melts in your mouth and requires less chewing needed. Very juicy!! If you prefer brown rice, need to top up a $1, so we just went for the white rice. I love Japanese white rice. The rice grains are not lumped together like sushi chains, good quality of rice used!! The staff are very friendly as well, the chef even helped us to open the soup case cos it was stuck HAHA. The aunty that served us is very knowledgeable and could recommend the dishes to us (we’re first timers hence). Really enjoyed the dining experience @ Koji Raffles, wouldn’t mind trying out their outlet at Pickering. It’s really quite affordable as well for the items we ordered.

Chef Yoshi is very accommodating and interacts well with the patrons! He personally made cheesecake for my husband’s birthday celebration. The sushi made is delicious. I love every course of the lunch set. Uni soup was my favourite. It changes my original thought of how uni tastes like as I had unpleasant uni food before. Thank you again for the amazing food and service! Do choose counter seat to see how chef prepares the food!

Love the atmosphere, very friendly chefs and we enjoyed the chat. The food is simply amazing! It is a hidden gem in Bugis Cube. The food is served fresh, air flown from Japan – the freshest you can get in Singapore. This is the first omokase that we will be returning for subsequent rounds again.
