1. OMU NOMU Craft Sake & Raw Bar

If your idea of a perfect night out involves premium craft sake paired with pristine raw seafood, OMU NOMU is your nirvana. Specializing in small-batch, artisanal sakes, this spot is heaven for those who take their rice wine seriously. The raw bar is equally impressive, serving up sashimi so fresh it might just whisper “save me” before you eat it. The minimalist aesthetic and chill vibes make this the perfect place for both sake connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike.

Matthias Van de Raa
The food was great, but what made the visit exceptional was the staff’s enthousiasm about the sake. I tasted a bunch of craft sakes with mind-blowing flavor profiles (think blue cheese, soy, mushroom). They have some very unique and hard to find bottles in here. Special thanks to Jerrick and Lance for the lovely evening!
Reuben Cheah
Super chill vibes with a good music play list. Food was top notch, service was amazing, super attentive and highly hospitable staff. Now, the Sake was the bomb!! Great recommendations and staff were very knowledgeable and willing to share. Will definitely return!

Omu nomu has become my go-to spot whenever I am craving sake. As someone who actively seeks out great modern craft sake, buying bottles for my own consumption, it is truly rare to find restaurants whose entire ethos is centred around having the craziest and rarest sakes.

2. MoboMoga

Hidden away like a well-kept secret, MoboMoga (short for “Modern Boy, Modern Girl”) is Tokyo’s drinking culture reincarnated in Singapore. The bar exudes retro Japanese charm, and the intimate setting makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into an exclusive speakeasy. The sake selection is phenomenal, featuring rare and seasonal brews that are difficult to find elsewhere. Bonus: The staff are sake nerds in the best possible way—ready to guide you through your liquid journey with passion and precision.

I love the sashimi, oyster here. The sake was also very good. Rmb, the yam steak is not steak, it’s sort of an omelette. A bit weird but I can still take it 🤭
Jessica Chew
We started off immediately with a bottle of sake. I had no clue what sake we had as the bottle was served after asking us some questions on our preference. The sake was slightly dry with a fuller mouthfeel and mellow sweetness that spread in the mouth. The Aburi Stingray Fins were good nibbles between sips of sake. The fins were thick with soft yet firm chewy texture, and had a nice smoky and pleasant saltiness to it that went really well with the sake.

Great little hideout sake bar and restaurant. Every dish is tastefully done. Highly recommend for a cozy night out. Let the pics do the talking!

3. Nomiya Izakaya & Sake Bar

Izakaya culture is all about good food, great drinks, and even better company—Nomiya Izakaya nails all three. Their sake list is extensive, covering everything from crisp and floral junmai ginjo to deep and earthy yamahai sakes. But let’s be real—you’re here for the full experience. Order a plate of yakitori, raise your ochoko, and let the sake do the talking (or the singing, depending on how many glasses you’ve had).
Customer reviews:
The Closet Tenor
Cosy, often boisterous izakaya serving creative casual Japanese food and sake. The set menus comprising their top hits are good value, but add-on dishes like wagyu beef, oysters and sake can add up. The food is pretty excellent with interesting combos such as cauliflower tempura with a crisp umami topping, an excellent Spanish-inspired grilled prawns with garlic oil, a jet-black version of karage, a cold udon with truffle and crispy kombu “sand”, and a great chawanmushi with crisp foie gras. Not an extensive sake collection but good quality and makes for easy fuss-free selection. The indoor tables can be noisy, so if you’re averse, try the few outdoor tables with fan. Attentive, friendly service by the owner.

Service is excellent & they are really attentive. Always on the lookout whether you are done with your beer or Sake – your cup is never empty.

The dishes such as the sashimi and oysters were fresh. Other dishes didn’t disappoint too. Recommend: Tiramisu & sake. The service is also good

Maiden visit to this establishment that is located in the heart of the CBD for lunch earlier today. It was an afternoon of well-executed fare coupled with fantastic service. The Japanese sake recommendation based on our taste preference was spot on too.

5. TANOKE

TANOKE is where sake and sumiyaki (charcoal-grilled meats) meet in a glorious, smoky embrace. The sake list is meticulously curated, showcasing both classic and modern styles, while the food menu is designed to highlight the nuanced flavors of each pour. If you love pairing a dry, crisp sake with a perfectly charred skewer of wagyu, this is your happy place. Plus, the chic yet cozy ambiance makes it a great date-night spot—because nothing says romance like grilled meat and premium booze.

Overall very good experience. The service staff was hospitable and friendly. Introduce additional sake flight which was a nice addition to the meal.
Sami Ammous
Great, creative Japanese food served by proficient, friendly staff in a cozy atmosphere. Compact but interesting drink menu: cocktails, wine, beer, sake, and an extensive Japanese gin selection.
Sue
Service is great! As I was not hungry there was no mains ordered. Exquisite in execution and taste out of this world especially the tomato toufu cheese dish, perfect amalgamation of ingredients! The sake was also very pure in taste! Overall a nice experience, about SGD 130 for one pax with dessert.

6. Taki Izakaya

Some places are just built for long nights of laughter, clinking glasses, and questionable life choices—Taki Izakaya is one of them. Open till late, this lively joint is perfect for winding down (or turning up) with friends over an endless flow of sake. Their selection is vast, ranging from easy-drinking sakes to complex, umami-packed options that will change the way you look at fermented rice forever. Order a few small plates, let the sake keep pouring, and just go with the flow.

Great Izakaya joint in the heart of the city. Very nice atmosphere for instagrammers. Nice selection of sake and fresh sashimi. Only feedback was that the tako in the sashimi platter was very salty.
Rohit Shah

7. Ume San

If you’re looking for a sake bar that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still delivers top-notch drinks, Ume San 100 is your jam. The playful decor, neon lights, and funky vibes make it stand out from the traditional sake bar crowd. But don’t let the casual atmosphere fool you—their sake game is strong, featuring a selection that caters to both beginners and seasoned drinkers. Try their sake tasting flights if you’re feeling adventurous, or just go straight for a full bottle and call it a night.

The food was fresh and amazing! Supper yummy! Portion is a lil small for the price but quality is good. Drinks are good and the sake are sooo good! We ended up buying a whole bottle! Eugene was amazing! Created good rapport and recommended us good drinks! Kudos to the chef and to eugene! We’ll see you soon! Please keep up the quality!
Pei Pei Sam
Good service. Nice place to chill after work. The plum sake is nice.

Ordered the experimental, sake, and fruity umeshu taster flights, along with sides like the fugu karage, wagyu, and nachi pagoda. Also had garlic fried rice and angry cha shu. We especially enjoyed the experimental ones – we usually seek out unique flavors, and this definitely hit the mark. The food and drinks were fantastic. Eugene chatted with us and let us try a number of drinks, and we ended up purchasing some bottles to drink and take home. Overall, great service and an excellent selection of drinks. I’ve been to the sister outlet but much prefer this one for its variety. A small suggestion—playing Japanese music instead of English pop could enhance the atmosphere even more.

This place is new. Food is decent especially the beef cubes are amazing. They don’t have a long list of sake but does curate decent junmai daijinjo. Friendly staffs. Highly recommend to come.

Visited on a friend’s recommendation… casual, cosy izakaya with fairly wide range of food. Beef cubes and skewers were really good.
