It was my first time eating Peranakan food, and it wasn’t too spicy, and the flavors were mild and very delicious. It was a private room a little further back, but the floor tiles were of a unique Peranakan design, making them beautiful, and I was able to spend some quality time with the members in a calm atmosphere.

Rene Thöne
Wow… Incredible! Everything! I don’t understand exactly what Peranakan is… but it is delicious! Everything here is a candy… for your tongue, for your tummy, for your eyes and for your ears. Food: Indescribable good. We love SIngapore for the 1st class food possibilities… but the Indocafe is right on the top of the best ones. Every single serving was “Get me more from this”. Gratulation to the chef. We had twice the 3 course menue, with two different main dishes. To much to describe, but e.g. the Pork belly… It was nothing fatty or rubbery. It was best meat from a iberico (or Jamon?) Pork, tender, jucy, perfect. Copy this for every single serving we get. Also the waiter was more than perfect. Waiter? Maybe better concierge or entertainer. He explained us in short but good words a bit to every single serving we receive. Very nice voice, very good englisch, very high knowledge about the food he serves. Perfect! And the ambience… A touch of british clubhouse or tea time. A High quality touch. Extra tipp: Go there with a good dressing. I gone there with a short trouser, and only by the two waiter i feel very underdressed. Lucky, we are the only guest. If you have other guests, they will always have a business dress… at least. Fine fine fine, one of our best visits in Singapore ever. Not cheap! But worth the money.

Customer Reviews:
Darren
Recent cravings for Peranakan food led me to this slightly hidden stall at Golden Mile Food Centre, and boy was this a good find. Blunt but friendly aunty serving customers and even helping to clear their plates. The Ayam Rendang ($8) came in a sharing portion of chicken and potatoes in a superb aromatic and slightly spicy gravy; and the best part is that the chicken pieces are boneless! The Chapchai ($5) was also really good and in a sizeable portion. Two plates of rice completed the meal for an additional $0.50 a plate. Overall, fantastic and homely peranakan fare at a very affordable price. Would definitely return and also wholeheartedly recommend anyone to come by too!
Keefe Lai
