For some, grocery shopping is no different from being a chore while others enjoy the experience of going around and purchasing their favorite foods and snacks. No matter which category you fall into, the fact remains that a weekly or bi-weekly trip to a supermarket in Singapore is now a crucial part of the modern individual’s routine. That said, not all supermarkets are made equal, and some offer greater selections–from novel imported goods to fresher produce–and even better customer service. Thus, if you’re looking to spice up your grocery runs, consider exploring what these new destinations have to offer.

1. FairPrice Xtra
The supermarket chain FairPrice has long been a household name in Singapore, and its related brand FairPrice Xtra takes everything it already does well to the next level. The branches of this hypermarket chain boasts quite a significant size increase compared to its predecessor and carries a lot more items under one roof. FairPrice Xtra has everything you’d imagine a supermarket would carry, all with a greater variety and lower prices to boot. Apart from the usuals, they also stock categories like international selections, baby and child toys, pet supplies, electronics, and lifestyle items.

Our family ought to come here more often because this hyper mart has almost everything! Last night we got my wife a pair of nice slippers for a very reasonable price. Before that we almost dined in for oysters and wine too! Bought eggs from Ukraine and wow they were really good. Friendly staff all around too. We will be back again soon, thanks! 🙏🏻

Love this concept of integrating grocery, dining, bar and kids zone all in one supermarket. The booze at the bar is one of the most affordable in the area! Fresh craft beer + fresh cooked meal = satisfaction!

My new favourite NTUC. If you think all stores are the same, you need to pay a visit to this one. It has the feel of hypermarkets in Australia with a place to dine in and even a bar. Variety of goods not seen even in most Fairprice Finest stores. Check out their healthier ice cream selections.

2. Sheng Siong
Sheng Siong is a popular grocery store in Singapore best known for its wide range of quality household commodities at affordable prices. This key advantage is what sets the brand apart from the rest as well as the main reason why many Singaporeans continue to do their shopping at their nearest Sheng Siong branch since its inception in 1985. The brand’s other notable qualities include having more options for many of the product categories they offer as well as offering seafood and poultry choices that are just as fresh as those sold in conventional wet markets.

There are many shopping options here, except for tissue, you have to buy one package which contains at least 4 packs. Lots of fresh seafood and vegetables, lots of traditional Chinese spices as well as snacks from dried fruits, beer and lots of choices. Recommended for buying daily necessities if you are near this area.👍
Soo Hin Yeoh
Typical Sheng Siong, reasonably priced, well stocked and good customer service. Come CNY, they have adjusted their offerings to include all CNY goodies.👍🏼

Sheng Siong Supermarket in Singapore is like a treasure hunt for groceries! It’s so fun trying to decipher the price tags, and their produce section is like a jungle adventure – you never know what exotic fruits you might discover. Plus, their trolley wheels have a mind of their own, making for some unexpected twists and turns in the aisles. Been coming here for years. Always love the wide array of products that are mostly value for money! We appreciate that the staff are all really friendly too although it can get busy on weekends. Parking is free which is a huge plus. One small feedback though there was a baby cockroach my wife and I spotted at the meat section today, to the credit of the staff he swiftly cleared it away. 😅
Alexander Reinaldo
Completely blown with the variety of groceries here. And they are very up to trend, like when we came on 26th Dec, they have prepared for CNY with all the goodies, steamboat and cookies. Also at the 1st floor, they have mini pasar malam, with good food after good energy burned shopping. :p
Besharps
Giant Hypermarket and it’s literally a giant Hypermarket. The place has about everything you would need and it’s a huge place to shop. The best thing about this place is that there’s currently lots of promotions and discounts right now so you can get lots of stuff for cheap. It’s also open 24 hours, which is amazing. There’s a small place to dine in as well called Uncle Jacks inside the Hypermarket, which is pretty cool as I’ve never seen it elsewhere. Self check out counters are great, it’s easy to use.

Opens early which is great! Produce and products usually pricier but if you’re after Aussie products, they have a good range. They also have a good range of gluten free and vegan options.

This supermarket is clean and big. I guess this supermarket is all selling imported stuff. I was buying some snacks, really a cool place. The staff are very dedicated not gonna lie. Very kind too. Really a great supermarket. I am recommend it.
Ryan Tay
Nice range of products from China that is not found locally. If you order from Taobao and ship to Singapore, it works out about the same or more. So might as well buy here in store. My favourite will be the titbits and snacks. Besides, this Flagship store is open 24 hours so you can do some late night shopping.
Soo Hin Yeoh
Supermarket a favourite among Chinese nationals; sells most things from China and the local produce are also priced to sell, cheaper than FairPrice and Giant. Avoid weekends as it is usually packed but they have good system on check-outs, usually within 5 minutes despite the snaking queues.
