Their signature crispy yam mooncakes are not only pretty to look at, they are also so worth the calories! It’s super flavourful and taste so amazing. We bought other mooncake flavours like the black sesame, mixed nuts and lotus paste to try as well. All of them taste great and it’s not sweet! Absolute treasure to have this traditional pastry shop around. All their pastries are also made from scratch so please try them!
JY
A fantastic local bakery! Was very impressed by their sesame mochi piah as well as the cny goodies that I ordered for cny this year, like the pineapple tarts, almond cookies & green pea cookies. Finally got the chance to try their famous mooncakes and their new orh nee mochi salted egg tart & they’re so yummy as well! The yam, sesame & traditional 5 nuts mooncakes were all fantastic. Hoping to try more flavours next time! (Updated) I must say their new Teochew Sesame custard macadamia mooncake is one of the best that I’ve ever had! The texture & flavours just came together so beautifully. I was also impressed by their Shanghai mooncakes, a buttery delight that encompassed lotus paste.
Von
Chanced upon Hung Huat on Instagram promoting their black sesame mochi cake and flaky yam mooncakes 2 months back and I knew I definitely got to try them out! This is sure one of the best finds ever! My friends and I went to the shop for the first time back then. Really spoilt for choices, from traditional pastries like tau sar piah, ondeh ondeh to huat kueh to muah chee to mooncakes, CNY goodies etc etc. All handmade! Must buy the tau sar piah, shiok!! The black sesame mochi cake is very fragrant and chewy! Flaky yam mooncake is crispy and with decent yam taste (best when heated up), very value for money! Be sure to buy their snowskin mooncakes, very smooth texture inside out! If you are not a fan of mixed nuts mooncake, pls still buy, try and you will be amazed. What we love about the pastries is that they are all not too sweet. (: I hope you check them out to give a try yourself! No regrets! Weijie and his parents are very welcoming, friendly and patient in introducing their items to us. Can feel that they are really passionate with their works yet also very humble. (: Thank you Hung Huat family for sharing with us yummy goodies! We will be back again for more! (:

My first time getting pastries from this local based bakery. It is a pleasant encounter with Christine. I appreciate her warm introduction to the variety of baked goodies, and also her detailed sharing of vegetarian/vegan options as I’m a vegetarian (lacto-ovo). I’m also happy to receive my snowskin mooncakes in a nice cooler bag with ice gel pack. The taste of the mooncakes is fresh and light, making it perfect for the warm weather. The place is located within Parc Somme, which is rather convenient as it’s a short walk from City Square Mall/ Farrer Park MRT. Nice experience and hope that more people can discover this gem ?

We had a wonderful experience when we visited Simple Indulgence to buy GF mooncakes. Christine, the founder walked through her journey in developing each flavoured mooncake as we did the taste tasting. Her mooncakes are delicious but the cherry on top is Her stories and description of the flavour profile of each main components while we sampled. My personal favourite is the Butterfly Pea Coconut Gula Melaka mooncake. It was crafted beautifully as it was well-balanced and smooth. You can taste each components but not a single one overpowers the other rather they complemented them seamlessly. Thank you Christine and Team for sharing your passion with us!

I like that they were able to deliver healthy desserts that doesn’t use sugar but yet still retain the taste expected of Desserts. Bought their diabetic friendly mooncake for my mum who has diabetes and definitely a store to patronise for those with a sweet tooth and a desire to be health conscious.

Tried the traditional mooncake. To my surprise the texture of the mooncake is smooth and melts into my mouth. Eventhough it is a healthier version but I would say it taste even better than the normal mooncake. Strongly recommend ?

Kenneth Tan
Traditional mooncakes and snacks made in the good old way! Fantastic staff! Effectively bilingual in Chinese and English. Very helpful and patient as I had a complicated order with multiple permutations and combinations in each box. My favourites are the 4 yolk lotus paste and mixed nuts mooncakes. The best “original” mooncakes money can buy. They do have selected mooncakes available off season too!
Ethan Low
Today i came to Tai Chong Kok to buy 2 pieces of single yoke mooncakes and the taste was very good, very smooth and the ingredients was very fresh. I’ve not been to here long time and decided to buy 2 pieces of mooncakes to try it. Felt very good after eating it. Would highly recommend this place if you want to try it out. For 2 pieces i paid $35.00 but its really worth it. The mooncakes is not very sweet.??????
Daniel
For traditional tasting Chinese moon cakes, I highly recommend the Tai Chong Kok Hue Kee stores over the Tai Chong Kok stores (Sago Street, Chinatown). The Tai Chong Kok brand has 2 chains run by the 2 sisters. The Hue Kee moon cakes retain most of the ‘yuan wei’ (original taste/flavour and aroma), while the other sister’ moon cakes has lost all the original taste, texture and aroma. I only recommend the original baked and white snow skin moon cakes with the original fillings. There are new flavours/tastes both baked and snow skin type, these are not my cup of tea. Try the ‘yuan wei’ moon cakes!

The kids cakes are fantastic and price wise for the artistic labour for customised cakes I think they are competitively priced..lots of local.flavoured cakes especially this particular flavour kyoho grape with white chocolate…hot favourite but unfortunately due to the pandemic they are unable to.producr due to lack of ingredients. Wonderful Stay at The Oriental in Singapore I wanted to take a moment to share our experience during our recent stay at The Mandarin Oriental in Singapore. This was our first trip to Singapore, traveling from Australia with our two children, and we chose your hotel based on its recent renovations and beautiful Nanyang style, which we had seen in photos. Upon our arrival at night, we were warmly welcomed by your front desk staff. Despite our kids being a bit noisy with excitement in the lobby, the staff remained incredibly patient and engaging, even taking the time to chat with them and offer toys to keep them entertained. It was a truly thoughtful gesture that made us feel at home. We were pleasantly surprised to find a mooncake gift box in our room, a lovely touch given that our stay coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided breathtaking, unobstructed views of the entire Marina Bay area, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Additionally, we appreciated the daily replacement of toiletries and the thoughtful provision of children’s bathrobes and slippers. It was such a nice touch to have Mo’s cleaning products for our convenience as well. Overall, our stay was fantastic, and we look forward to returning to Singapore. We will definitely choose The Mandarin Oriental again for our next visit! Thank you for making our family vacation so memorable.

Went there to get the mooncake. Nice low sugar mooncake for my elderly.
Maximilian Steidle
A beautifully designed hotel in a prime location with high standards in room quality and amenities. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by two significant issues: a 90-minute wait for my luggage upon arrival, and a 20-minute delay before being acknowledged and seated at breakfast. Thankfully, the team responded thoughtfully and extended generous gestures of goodwill. With more consistency in service, this property can truly live up to its luxury reputation.
