Their CNY snacks are absolutely top-notch—I’ll definitely be making this my go-to shop for CNY goodies from now on. I’m especially obsessed with the almond peanut butter love letters and the melt-in-your-mouth pineapple tarts. The prawn rolls were also incredible, with just the right amount of spicy kick! Soflle cookies and tarts are low in sugar, perfect for health-conscious individuals. I love their pineapple tarts and Mao Shan Wang mooncakes! ?
Frank Ho
Green pea cookies looked very good from the outside, it crumbles inside our mouth and then melts into a nostalgia feeling of my late ah ma telling us of traditional bakes she had. Sea shell pineapple tarts was a dangerously addictive concoction that gets you going 1-2-3 & more. Didn’t have prior expectation and the fibre gelled so well with the tongue that you have to literally put a stop to kids and adults mouth. Packaging was next level of personalisation.

One of the best pineapple tarts I’ve tried! The crust is not too sweet and the pineapple is just nice! The hei bee hiam is also really really good! Thumbs up!

First visit and I love it. There are many varieties and I really not sure which one should I start first. Bought pineapple tart and sea salt chocolate cookies for a start and it’s really good. Pastry melts in your mouth and the fillings are great too. The sea salt chocolate cookies is very addictive, not too sweet and great for tea time.

Hung Huat is a rare gem of a traditional confectionery that stands out for its handmade pastries and exceptional quality. Their pineapple tarts, with crisp, flaky base are a must-try. This family-run business provides warm, friendly service, with Mr. and Mrs. Sim crafting pastries while their son, Weijie, manages customers and social media. Visit them at Sims Vista early, as their goodies sell out quickly – you won’t be disappointed!

Chanced upon Huat Huat Cakes and Pastries on IG and decided to head down to try their kueh bangkit. We do not always believe in posted reviews and will try it for ourselves. My family loves kbk and is very picky. It has to have the melt in the mouth texture, fragrant and not overly sweet. When we tried Hung Hung’s we were completed sold, it is the best kbk that we have tasted. I remembered they posted on IG saying most people went back for more. Indeed we went back and bought another 4 bottles! I think we will continue to go back for many years to come. Pineapple tarts are nice too, handmade pineapple paste with very buttery and melt in the mouth crust. Please try the kueh bangkit, you will definitely go back the 2nd time. 🙂

I was looking for open faced pineapple tart for CNY and was bumped into Ding Bakery that they do sell this kind of tart and most importantly with an offer discount price. At first I was abit skeptical but at the end I want to give it a try, buying the pineapple tart and other snacks. To my surprise, it taste good especially the pineapple tart. I like the buttery flavour of the tart. The snacks were taste pleasant too, I wish the Mala flavour can bit more spicy. Overall it was a pleasant experience to try and taste the CNY cookies/snacks. There is one more thing that I would like to give credit for Ding Bakery is the delivery service and customer service. Well responded and on time delivery making my first experience with Ding Bakery definitely is a thumbs up!
E Tan
It was an easy and pleasant experience ordering from the website. Plenty of CNY goodies to choose from, but I went for my favorite Nonya Pineapple Tarts. Self-collection was also fuss-free, the few ladies staff were very good at sales, inviting me to sample the myriad of delicious morsels of baked pastries. Very friendly and efficient with dispatching my order. The pineapple tarts were such a delight, they were made using natural ingredients you can find in your own kitchen pantry. I love that the pineapple jam paste wasn’t too sweet, it has a tangy twist to the sweetness. I am considering making another purchase!
Michelle Hong
Have been a repeated customer of Ding Bakery for a few years and our family love their CNY goodies, especially the open face pineapple tarts and spicy prawn rolls! This year we decided to try their Golden egg rolls and it was simply delicious! Can’t wait to try out their Mala snacks too!

Edwina Pariwono
I joined the pineapple tart workshop at Kele Merlione and had such a great time. The experience was well-organized, hands-on, and surprisingly relaxing. We got to shape and fill the tarts ourselves, and it was really satisfying seeing (and tasting!) the final product fresh from the oven. The tea session afterward was a lovely bonus — calm atmosphere, beautifully set up, and the teas paired really nicely with the tarts. You can tell a lot of thought went into the whole experience. It’s more than just a baking class — it’s a chance to slow down, enjoy good food, and learn something new. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something unique and meaningful to do in Singapore.
Felicia Seet
Had such a fun baking session here with the Kele Team at Tea Chapter! Pineapple Tarts and tea is such an enjoyable combination!

A delightful hands-on experience with local flair! We had such a wonderful time at the Kele Merlion Pineapple Tart Baking Class held at Tea Chapter! The session was fun, beginner-friendly, and perfect for families or friends looking to bond over a uniquely Singaporean activity. The instructors were warm and patient, guiding us step-by-step as we shaped the adorable Merlion tarts and filled them with Kele’s signature fragrant pineapple jam. The highlight? Taking home our own freshly baked tarts that looked almost too cute to eat! Loved the heritage setting at Tea Chapter too. It added such a lovely, zen atmosphere to the whole experience. A great mix of tradition, creativity, and delicious fun. Highly recommend this class to both locals and tourists alike!

AVRC
Delicious beancurd tarts!! Although I believe they are stopping these and focusing on pineapple tarts in the new year?Recommended dishes.
Wendy Tan
Two months before Chinese New Year, I had to place an order for their golf ball sized pineapple tarts annually. It is a popular CNY gift for its juicy content of pineapple jam. Sold throughout the year, but you can only get them if you place an early order nearing Chinese New Year. All outlets will be closed to concentrate solely on the production of pineapple tarts for customers who had ordered them as CNY prosperity gift. L.E. Cafe is also very popular for their beancurd tarts, coffee cookies, vegetarian almond cookies, etc. All these popular products will not be sold during the period of pineapple tarts closures. I have been their fan for many, many years, and their golf ball pineapple tarts have become one of my signature CNY gifts by popular expectations. Give yourself a treat. You will return for more.

I had a wonderful experience at OSC at Paragon! Their pastries are absolutely delicious, and my personal favorite is the Truffle Char Siew Pastry—rich, flavorful, and simply irresistible. However, what truly stood out to me was the exceptional customer service provided by Kuan. I had ordered their pineapple tarts but completely forgot to pick them up due to my travel schedule. Kuan went above and beyond—he followed up diligently! His dedication and thoughtfulness were truly impressive, and I sincerely appreciate the extra effort she put in. Great pastries and even better service—highly recommend Seng Choon Pastry!

The pastries selection frm this shop is unique and interesting. The unusual and uniqueness in combination makes me come back again and again over the years. I like the triangular pastry range as they are not too sweet. The truffle and matcha ones most. This time i try the the black truffle bakwa pineapple tart. Tired from eating similar pineapple cakes frm different brands, this variant leads to different sensation. The combination is interesting and unique that you will yourself trying to figure out different ingredients while savouring it. The salted yolk pineapple tart is similar to the other taiwanese brands. I like the pineapple filling bc it hs sweetness and sourness w/o adding fragrant essense. The pastry skin is quite fragrant but i still prefer next block brand Suxxy Hixxs. The pastries and tarts come in beautiful packaging. It’s perfect for gift to friends and relatives esp for festives.

Don’t miss Old Seng Choong if you’re hunting for beautifully presented Singaporean treats! I tried their egg tarts recently and they were honestly really delicious — rich, smooth, and had that perfect buttery crust. You can tell they put a lot of care into both the flavor and packaging. That said, the prices are on the higher side, so it feels more like a special occasion buy or a thoughtful gift rather than an everyday snack. Overall, a classy spot for premium local goodies that’ll definitely impress! Would totally recommend for souvenirs or celebrations.

They did it every year. Their pineapple tarts never fail to bring back my childhood memories. I thought I would never get to taste the tarts my aunt baked till I found Bread Garden. Best pineapple tarts in town. Definitely handmade with love.

Love BreadGarden! They make wonderful cakes and pastries like their pineapple tarts. I have always been ordering their pineapple tarts for CNY, and decided to try their MSW cake (preorder only) for my son’s first birthday party. They followed my deco instructions to the T as I preferred a simpler design on my cake and it turned out perfect! They do minimalistic designs too if you prefer 🙂 Best of all, the cake was filled with pure MSW durian with soft sponge – everyone devoured it and asked where it was from. Service was also reliable and understanding. Thank you BreadGarden!

I have been ordering Bread Garden CNY goodies – pineapple tarts and macdamia cookies for the past 5 years. I have product tested and to me – as this is subjective – they came up tops.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
2. What is the typical price range for a jar of pineapple tarts?
The price of a jar of pineapple tarts in Singapore can fluctuate widely based on several factors, including the quality of ingredients, the craftsmanship involved, and the reputation of the bakery. On the more affordable end, a standard jar from a local bakery or supermarket typically costs between $20 and $30. These tarts are generally mass-produced and are great for larger gatherings. For a higher-end, artisanal product, the price can increase significantly. Premium tarts, which are often handmade using high-quality imported French butter and fresh, hand-grated pineapples, can cost anywhere from $40 to $60 per jar, or even more. The price often reflects the attention to detail and the quality of the raw materials used.
3. How can I tell the difference between a high-quality and a low-quality pineapple tart?
A high-quality pineapple tart is a true work of art, with a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The pastry should have a "melt-in-your-mouth" consistency, rich with the aroma of real butter, and should not feel greasy or crumbly. The jam should be made from real pineapples, which you can often see in its fibrous texture, and should not be overly sweet or taste artificial.
A good tart also has a harmonious ratio of pastry to filling—neither too much crust nor too little jam. Visually, a well-made tart will have a beautiful, even golden-brown glaze from a meticulous egg wash. In contrast, a low-quality tart may have a greasy or bland crust and a sticky, overly sweet jam made from a pre-mix.
4. How should I store pineapple tarts to keep them fresh, and what is their shelf life?
To ensure that your pineapple tarts stay fresh and delicious, proper storage is key. The best method is to keep them in an airtight container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. This will help the pastry maintain its crisp texture. Stored this way, they can remain fresh for approximately 2 to 3 weeks. If you wish to extend their freshness, you can place the airtight container in the refrigerator, where the tarts can last for over a month. For longer-term storage (up to a few months), they can be kept in the freezer, although it is important to let them thaw completely before serving to prevent moisture from affecting the texture.
5. Are pineapple tarts available all year round, or only during festive seasons?
While pineapple tarts are most famously associated with the Chinese New Year period, they have become a staple in Singaporean cuisine and are now available throughout the year. Many renowned bakeries and food businesses, recognizing their enduring popularity, offer them as a signature item on their menu regardless of the season.
However, the widest variety of options and the freshest batches are undoubtedly available in the weeks leading up to and during the Chinese New Year celebrations, when demand for this festive treat is at its peak.
6. Are there any Halal or vegetarian-friendly pineapple tart options?
Yes, the market for pineapple tarts in Singapore is incredibly inclusive, with numerous options to cater to various dietary needs. Many bakeries offer Halal-certified pineapple tarts, ensuring that the ingredients and preparation methods comply with Islamic dietary laws. You can also find many vegetarian-friendly options, as traditional pineapple tarts are made without any meat or animal-derived products, though they do often contain eggs and butter. For those who are vegan, there are even options available that use plant-based butter and no eggs, providing a delicious treat for everyone.
7. Do I need to pre-order pineapple tarts, especially during the festive season?
During the Chinese New Year season, pre-ordering is not just a convenience—it is almost a necessity, especially if you have your heart set on tarts from a popular or artisanal bakery. Many of the most sought-after bakeries begin taking pre-orders as early as November or December to manage the high volume of orders. Pre-ordering guarantees that you can secure your favorite tarts, saving you from the disappointment of them being sold out and allowing you to avoid the famously long queues that form as the festive season approaches.
8. What are the main ingredients used in the pastry and the pineapple jam?
A perfect pineapple tart is the result of a few simple but high-quality ingredients. The rich and crumbly pastry is typically made from a combination of flour, high-grade butter, sugar, and egg yolk. The use of real butter is what gives it that signature fragrant aroma and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
The jam, the star of the show, is made from a labor-intensive process of simmering grated, ripe pineapples with sugar until it caramelizes into a sweet and tangy consistency. Some bakers also add a hint of lemon juice, cloves, or cinnamon to enhance the flavour.
9. What is the typical calorie count of a single pineapple tart?
While delicious, a single pineapple tart is quite high in calories due to its rich ingredients. On average, a standard-sized pineapple tart contains approximately 82 calories. The calories come primarily from the high content of butter and sugar in both the pastry and the jam. For those who are counting calories, it is useful to be mindful of this, as it is very easy to indulge in multiple tarts at one go, especially during festive gatherings.
10. Are pineapple tarts a good gift to bring to a gathering or a home visit?
Absolutely. Pineapple tarts are considered an excellent and thoughtful gift, especially during the Chinese New Year season. The pineapple in Chinese culture symbolises prosperity and good fortune, making the tart a highly auspicious and meaningful present.
Presenting a beautifully packaged jar of pineapple tarts is a gesture of goodwill and a way of wishing the recipient good fortune. As a universally loved snack in Singapore, it is a safe and appreciated gift for any gathering or home visit.
