1. Takagi Ramen

Kon’nichiwa. Happy to bring our boys for lunch here today after their PSLE oral. Everything is good from chashumen, tantanmen, piridon, takoyaki, ebi to the free noodles refill. The crew that greeted us Aunty Peggy is very helpful and friendly. She’s so bubbly and makes us happy. Jiayou aunty. Stay safe.

All the items are delicious! Service is prompt. Love the tako yaki and chawamushi. Garlic fried rice is tasty and the chicken wings skewers are delicious. Yakiniku beef js delicious and tender but portion very small. They have a cute hidden indoor area with very japanese style seats. Will be back to try more items. Went back a second time, met Doris who is the most awesome and gave us the best service!!! Highly recommended!
Ming
Great izakaya with multiple cooked food options, all of which are tasty and have good price-quality ratio. Service is also excellent. Recommended!
Neil Burge
The takoyaki skewers are all fantastic, as are the gyoza. If you like chawanmushi then you have a choice of 3 options, which are delicious. If I lived closer I would come here weekly, it is really great value for money and my go-to Japanese restaurant when visitors come to town.

Amazing food. Can’t stop coming to this place. Seats are limited so do come early. Love the oyako don, tonkatsu don and matcha jelly dessert. Takoyaki is great too, though the sauce is a tad too sweet. Thank you Mr Young for bringing affordable yet tasty food to SG!
Jane Koh
The takoyaki was spot on in terms of taste profile – flavourful with a good balance of sweet and savoury without being cloying. The biggest surprise was how moist and fluffy the egg was, which paired well with the cabbage and pork to give a delightful mouth feel.
Sam SPY
The takoyaki is authentic as it gets. An unexpected delight was the tamago; it’s homemade, the texture is far superior to the factory-made version, and it really stood out. The setting is very nice too, with beautiful utensils, bowls, and plates that enhance the experience. The staff are attentive and helpful. Highly recommend!

4. Shukuu Japanese Izakaya and Bar

Patience is a virtue, and at Shukuu, it’s rewarded with some of the best takoyaki in town. Cooked slowly over a specialized grill, these takoyaki balls have an irresistibly crisp outer layer while remaining molten inside. Paired with a smooth sake from their impressive selection, this is the kind of indulgence you never knew you needed.
Customer reviews:

Dropped by this Izakaya tucked in between the shophouses after work and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Interior decor was reminiscent of an authentic Japanese Izakaya. The takoyaki wasabi was well seasoned, rosti mentai had great flavours with bursting umami from the mentai sauce. We ordered the chef’s selection kushiyaki and buta shogayaki don too. Both were delicious! Their kawa ebi age is yummy as well.
Bernie Chin
Great food! Enjoyed the takoyaki the most. The gratin is also fantastic. Overall, food is tasty. But if I come again, I won’t order the kushiyaki anymore. Not worth the price and not as good as their other cooked food.
Kho Ke Di
We ordered a variety of items, from skewers, cold side dishes, grilled foods and a rice bowl. The skewers were well seasoned and cooked nicely, while the ponzu beef had a nice balance of acidity with a slight smokey aftertaste. The tobiko roe on top provided a well needed crunch and complemented the beefy flavor. However, the star of the meal was undoubtedly the acallop mentaiyaki, cooked pefectly and torched with mentaiko, this dish was filled with umami flavor while still maintaining the sweetness of the scallop. Every dish had its merits and were great. Would definitely recommend this as an affordably-priced izakaya with good drinks.

Menya Kokoro is famous for its mazesoba (dry ramen), but the takoyaki here is equally worthy of applause. They serve it up hot, fluffy, and drenched in a savory-sweet sauce that perfectly complements the chewy octopus inside. Pair it with their signature noodle bowls for the ultimate Japanese comfort food combo.
Customer reviews:

Consistently good mazesoba at a good price. Always coming back here for yummy food. Tried some sides as well and definitely recommend the takoyaki balls.
Supreet Kini
Recently tried the garlic mazesoba. The garlic taste is not overpowering, which makes this dish really nice. In terms of sides – I liked the potato salad. Takoyaki balls are served hot, really good too!
Aly
Would recommend the mentaiko takoyaki which was super delicious and the 50cents iced water which I expected to be just a cup came as a huge jug of water infused with lemon and mint!

I hv bought their food many times and this is my review. Food is good, good price and at times generous portion. Good place for me to buy Japanese halal food at a cheaper price. If they have a lot of orders, u need to have the patience to wait yeah. But the wait is worth it.
Roszaini Mohd
Good and reasonable priced Halal authentic Japanese food.

Crab sticks with mentaiko mayo were delish. Garlic tofu was crispy but I figure their signature spicy version should be even better. Takoyaki was above average.
Nydas Yeo
Awesome place to go if you love Initial D and cars. Food there is great! Will come again
Lynn Teo
The cute Initial D car shop theme is well thought out, with details like movie posters / decor and racing car vibes. It’s a small cozy place suitable for anyone looking for a quick snacks with some alcoholic drinks plus a cafe experience. Recommend the cheese toufu and unagi don. My kids love the fried tater tots!

We stopped by for lunch during a quieter time and honestly didn’t expect to find such a hidden gem! The place is pretty small, so yeah, your clothes might smell a bit when you leave, but it’s worth it. The hotplate at the table was super cool as we got to see our food cooked right in front of us. The souffle pancake took a while, but it was totally worth the wait. I highly recommend the omelette cabbage wrap with pork, and the beef set was also very satisfying. The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. Great spot to check out!
Chelsea L
A cozy place and a wide variety of items on their menu! Tried their pork okonomiyaki and squid okonomyaki, as well as soufflé pancakes! Okonomiyakis were not bad, the cabbage used were on the chunkier side so you can really taste them. Soufflé pancakes were alright too, maybe slightly burnt at the base. Overall an interesting experience!
L L
We dined here during a less busy time. We ordered the okonomiyaki and yakisoba, both of which were satisfactory. It’s important to note that if you want the DIY okonomiyaki experience, you’ll need to make a reservation. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a good place to socialize with friends.

Forget bite-sized. Monster Planet lives up to its name by serving jumbo takoyaki that are practically a meal on their own. Overflowing with toppings and stuffed with an insane amount of octopus, these bad boys are not for the faint of heart. One bite and you’ll realize why they call it “Monster”—it’s monstrously delicious.

Been to woodlands and here. The food portion is a lot. I always eat the steak with egg and rice. Curry spicy is not so bad. Steak is always cooked to perfection. Medium well but moist and juicy. Recommend level 1 if you can take spicy food. 2 or 3 just nice. Lunch set is limited to 4 type of main dishes and includes soup, drink and ice cream (haagen-Daz). This place is quieter due to covid restrictions. Staff is more courteous and professional. Prefer it to the Woodlands one. Side dish that were nice were takoyaki. Karaage chicken was normal. My wife and her colleagues come here almost every week for lunch. I will definitely return.
Sevita Somnolent
I came here with my friends to eat. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry, Lvl 1 spice level The portion was great! The curry was flavourful. The Takoyaki was worth it. I also had a portion of the Matcha Honey Toast. IT WAS SPLENDID! I recommend getting all the Honey Toast for Dessert cause it’s legit the best. I believe it’s so far the best halal place out there to eat with your Malay friends.
Yurni Hikma Binte Yasin
Dined in here on last Wednesday during lunch time. We came in with a stroller and was guided to sit at the back. Food is great! Serving is generous. My husband and me are small eaters, we only ate one rice meal and 3 other sides. There was only one male server and he did everything seamlessly. The service he provided to all diners was absolutely flawless. Hope that Monster Planet can give him a promotion. I will definitely dine in here again.
